TCS PATTERN & INTERVIEW - 18 FEB 2007 - CHENNAI
Rated : +0 , -0
Hi Friends

This is Silpa....I got selected in TCS on 8th of March. I wrote the written test on 18th of feb at Vel Tech in Chennai. I have faced the interview, M.R, and H.R at the same day. Let me share my experience at first. It was online test. Total duration of the test is 1.30 min. Test  consists of 3 sections Vocabulary, Aptitude, and Critical reasoning. Then technical round, finally M.R and H.R.

Vocabulary (32 ques -20 min):
Totally it consists of 32 questions. Among them 10 Antonyms, 10 Synonyms, 6 fill in the blanks and 6 questions from a given passage.

For Synonyms go through the word list numbered :
1,5,7,9,11,13,16,20,21,25,26,30,31,26,40,46,50.

For antonyms go through the word list numbered:
2,3,6,8,12,14,17,18,22,23,27,28,32,33,35,37,38,41,42,47,48.

Go through practice exercises named with A,B,C,D,E.(in any edition) and also go through given 6 model test papers in Barrons (12th or 13th edition). Don't study the total words just study the words which are given under the heading "TEST". (last of the each word list given in a box with options). Its more than enough.

It is the major factor in filtering process.(for written test). They will give one passage with 6 blanks and with 9 options. We have to fill that blanks with given options. I didn't prepare for this passage. It may be from any topic. They will give one reading passage with 6 questions from that passage only. For this go through reading comprehension exercises named with A,B,C,D,E.(from Barrons any edition) and 6 model papers from 12th or 13th edition of Barrons.

Aptitude (38 ques-40 min):
For this section just go through old test papers. Its more than enough. Prepare only the methods, how to solve. Don't buttify the answers. They will change the numbers.
Prepare well old test papers for this section only.

Critical reasoning (12 ques-30 min):
In this section they will give 3 passages. Each passage consists of 4 questions. (4*3=12). For this section only goes through 12th edition of Barrons model test papers.

There will be maximum and minimum cutoff so be careful in putting the answers. No negative marks.

Technical, M.R and H.R:
Prepare about your self, your project, your strengths, weaknesses, short and long term goals, hobbies with explanations and examples (if possible) in supporting of your thoughts.

Prepare the topics which u have kept in the resume. You have to be thorough with the resume. Be cool and confident in answering the questions. Don't be smart. Keep eye contact. Know about company profile before facing the interview. Practice once before going to interview.
